Goodbye Mr. Shea.

Route 66 icon Bill Shea passed away this past Saturday at 91 years of age. While working with the Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau we’ve had the pleasure of knowing Bill Shea and we loved to tell his story to visitors and residents alike. Visits to his gas station museum for photography or information were always fun. He was truly a Route 66 legend and Hall of Fame recipient. Mr. Shea was also a WWII veteran – 4th Infantry. His division was part of the D-Day Normandy Invasion and landed upon Utah Beach – June 6th, 1944. He was an amazing man that lead an extraordinary life. He will be missed.
